not to over share with the music videos, but on the heels of last week's the XX, here's more tunage that's worth the share {I know..... music is so subjective} I guess I'm not Danish, because if I were, Ane Trolle would have been on my playlist long ago and I've never even heard of the guy. It's a weird video, but I haven't figured out how to post music without the video, so just shut your eyes, or do something else while you have a listen.

I think this bride hired rifle to do the table numbers and menu. look, doesn't it look like her work? lucky.

Sarah Ryhanen, probably the most blogged about floral designers {saipua} ,had these shots on her flickr account today of a wedding she did over the weekend- held at the Bowery Hotel in NYC. Rustic, loose, organic and yes, amazingly gorgeous.

There's a curious thing about L.A. that you don't find in any other large, U.S. cities. We spend an inordinate amount of time in our cars. As the crow flies, from my house to Hollywood is about 13 miles. In drive time that can mean an hour to an hour and a half. Unless it's very early in the morning, or late in the evening, and not on a weekend but maybe midweek, and then it's more like 30 minutes. It's all about the traffic.

All about the other 10s of millions of others that are trying to get here from there. Buzzing along on strips of asphalt looped and circled like bowls of spaghetti or arching like dinosaur tails. All of us, shuffling around in our little glass and metal boxes. Our private rooms. Our private worlds. Zipping through time, or standing still.

Standing still seems to take up a large part of our time. And there we sit, looking at each other. Oblivious that to the others, we are visible. Oblivious in this way, some pick noses, some read texts, some write texts, some shave, some apply makeup, read the the paper, the bible, floss teeth, sing, yawn, scratch ..... And we watch each other, curious in our furtive glances.







For the last 20 years Photographer, Andrew Bush (this, same photographer) has been driving around L.A. taking photos with what he calls his, "car tripod" a camera, placed in the area where he removed the front passenger seat of his own car, weighted down by sand bags. The result are these fantastic large, color, (intimate) portraits of people in their cars, shot mostly, in and around Los Angeles. To see more from Drives, visit here

Drought, Beetles, Jays, and Nutcrackers in the American West

From the Cornell Lab of Ornithology’s Project FeederWatch comes a fascinating tale about how Pinyon Jays and Clark’s Nutcrackers dispersed widely in the winter of 2002-2003 in response to a protracted drought that had prevailed in the southwestern U.S. since about 1999. The drought, in combination with infestations of native beetles that resulted in the widespread loss of Pinyon Pines, a valuable food source, caused the birds to wander in search of alternative foods.

Legends of La Cienega- Celebrate Hollywood, a sneak peek

Today the 20 participating, windows along the La Cienega corridor were unveiled to show the interpretations of popular Film and Television shows, as seen through some of the top Interior Decorators artistry . The window tour is just part of the Legends of La Cienega 2010, events that will take place over the next few days in Los Angeles' design quarter.

If you're in the area, this is such a great opportunity to sit in on any one, or more, of the huge roster of panel discussions that will be running throughout the days to come. Do the walking tour of the windows, pop in on a panel discussion, have lunch, enjoy the scenery - all free to the public. I encourage everyone to take advantage of this design kick-off to summer.

By the way, I'm told that many of the windows have special, lighting details that are best viewed in the evening.
