peace out

So late on posting lately. I guess it means that my weekends are truly needed.
By the way, are you as excited as I am by Day Light Savings? It might be one of my favorite days of the year.

Takin' a little vacay., being it's "Ski Week" and all.
I know Boston has 'Ski Week' or 'Winter Break'.  Does anyone else? Seems a little ridic.  We always scoff a little at the concept - and then go back to packing (these kids just had off 2+ weeks  and a few random, 3 day weekends ) Living at the beach we can't leave well enough alone,  we need SNOW and WINTER. Even it will be mostly man made

So off we go!

Have a lovely weekend, where ever that may be.

I don't know about you, but I'm guessing most of you do this, have a song that you blast while driving on the free-way? Way back in '03, and I worked up in Hollywood, this was my anthem. Except I cranked the original. Oh, and although I probably sang (badly) at the top of my lungs, I never once played the air drums (to the best of my memory).

There are a lot of reasons why I shouldn't like this song, "Video Games",  by Lana Del Rey - the low energy dirgyness of it, being number one.  And maybe the weirdness of the lyrics ( My, "12 yr old boy thinking" has me going to weird places when I hear, 'Swinging in the backyard" ....what does that mean? ) But oddly, I keep wanting to go back and listen to it again. However, do it with caution. And not if you've been diagnosed with seasonal depression or any other kind of malaise of the mind for that matter.

......And with that, enjoy!

Listening to this, Goyte cover, all week. Featuring Walk off the Earth + Ingrid Michaelson. The video itself is pretty awesome if you have a chance, go check it out ::

( does anyone else get hooked on a song and play it over and over? thank god for headphones or I'd drive everyone around me nuts. )

Happy Weekend!

No matter where you are, here's hoping for a weekend of gratitude. Because no matter where you are, you are exactly where you're supposed to be. xoxo. M*

What's your favorite? My mom used to make a mean, rutabaga rhubarb* + strawberry with a hint of orange rind. It slayed. Kinda excited to have my annual slice (or two ) of pumpkin with real whipped cream. Peace out and eat some pie people.

*Thank you anonymous for pointing out the spell check error. And for a good laugh this morning. Welcome to my brain on 5th grade math. Which I've been suffering through every week day afternoon. Definitely not turnips + strawberries! Although, knowing my mother,  she'd probably have some special way to turn even that into 'tasty'.

Just got back from our weekend in SF and although our weather was seasonably wonderful ( the best time of the year to visit if you want sunshine ) I stumbled across this work by graphic designer studio, Dowling|Duncan. If you don't already know, pretty much, this is what the city looks like the majority of the year. And if you love SF, you put up with it, even embrace it as moody, contemplative and cozy. Ahhhh. I can hear the lonely bellows of the fog horns, just looking at these.

Still working at it, with the new Photo Shop.
A couple of things before I sign off:

+ Don't forget to mark your calendars for next weeks super, secret, vintage designer resource sale. Get the skinny *here*

+ And if you want to see some, awesome, stop motion film, this new one by Spike Jonze is ingenious, adorable, a tad vulgar (well, as vulgar as felt figures can be.) and the perfect little flick on which to end the month. I'd post it here, but Spike has disabled the enabling of embedding.
